On Coming Back To Ones Self

Hi. I’m Cat, and I have been blogging off and on since the early 2000’s.

I certainly don’t fancy myself as some great writer. But this week I found two of my old blogs after curiosity got the Cat and revisited parts of my old self and thought, WOW, a ton of things have certainly changed.  But there is so much of me that hasn’t.

When I started blogging I was thirty, and had three small boys at home.  I lived on a small farm, and was a licensed game bird breeder that had hundreds of chickens, ducks, guinea fowl, turkeys and even horses and donkeys. And I homeschooled. I was REALLY Crunchy. Super into Essential Oils, and I had joined just about EVERY MLM on the planet trying to become a rich stay at home mom. (Side note: I didn’t ever become a rich stay at home mom as a matter of fact like MANY women I LOST money to those schemes.)

Today, I am 50 years old, in a different marriage, and my boys are all grown up and I even have a grandson! I live in my dream house in a beautiful lakeside golf course community.  I am married to my absolute best friend and we live in a multigenerational household with my mother and my husband’s mother and my now adult Autistic twin sons.  I have a wonderful career as a Team Admin and Transaction Coordinator for a Mega Real Estate Team that is in the top 25 in Texas. I am very active in my church and head up our Hospitality Committee and am involved in Stephen Ministry a lay caregiving ministry for people who need someone to talk to in tough times.

I started this blog because about 40 days ago I left social media.

I had been on Facebook since about 2009.

Before that I was on Myspace like everyone else but those posts are all gone now.  I can’t even login there anymore.

The only reason I haven’t totally deleted my Facebook account is because there are decades of memories and photos there. So, I go and check occasionally but never stay for very long.  Social media has become nothing but ads and influencers.   My facebook feed is 80% people I don’t even follow and groups I am not in. Plus ads.  If I want to go and find out how a friend is doing I have to search their name to get them to come up.

TikTok was even worse.  That was the easiest one to get rid of.

So, here I am going back to my original outlet.  I probably won’t ever share the link to this blog to anyone because I’m just putting things here for myself really, I’m not looking for a big audience or any kind of public validation from it,  so if you come across it say hello.  🙂
